In July of 2015, Tractalis provided the live tracking solution to the Gigathlon, the multi-discipline sports event in Switzerland. As back then, it was our first time working with an event of this size, we started out small and only equipped the single participants. While about 230 single participants were competing to win the race, countless members of the staff were ensuring a smooth flow of the event. To help them, we also tracked several officials. For instance, there were 10 rescue teams distributed along the event course. In case of an emergency, they had to react within minutes. Thanks to Tractalis, the organisers could optimise the rescues, because we gave them the possibility to see in real time, where their ambulance services were located.
For an event with up to 5000 participants, it is crucial to keep a clear overview of the race. We therefore equipped the cars that were leading or following the categories with tracking devices. Instead of having to keep up a constant connection to them via phone or radio, the headquarter was able to see them live on our web application.
For our engagement at the Gigathlon Switzerland in 2016, we are planning to provide a live tracking for as many teams as possible. We are looking forward to a sunny summer in the Swiss alps with an entertaining and thrilling multisport event!
