Die Tortour ist ein 1000 Kilometer langes Ultracyclingrennen rund um die Schweiz. Rund 13’000 Höhenmeter absolvieren die Athleten in 1er, 2er, 4er oder 6er Teams in unter 40 Stunden.

Als Geburtsstätte der Idee Tractalis ist die Tortour für Tractalis schon immer ein Pflichtprogramm gewesen, das wir jedoch sehr gerne absolvieren. 2015 kam Tractalis bei der Tortour bereits zum 5. Mal zum Einsatz. Als Konsequenz davon ist Tractalis tief in die Prozesse eingeflochten. Die Rennzentrale der Tortour verlässt sich seit Jahren auf das System und käme heute ohne wohl kaum aus. Dank Tractalis hat die Rennzentrale, welche ständig von zwei bis drei Leuten besetzt ist, einen ständigen Überblick über das Rennen.

Die Timestations (Zwischenstationen) an der Tortour orientieren sich für ihre Öffnungszeiten an der Marschtabelle. 2015 jedoch waren die vordersten Fahrer dem Zeitplan um mehrere Stunden voraus. Mit Tractalis hat die Rennzentrale ein Werkzeug, um solche Unstimmigkeiten frühzeitig zu erkennen. Im Jahr 2015 war es so möglich, fünf Timestations zu warnen und früher aufzubieten.

Ebenso praktisch erwies sich das Livetracking für die Koordination bei Unfällen. Die beiden Stürze die leider an der Tortour passierten, konnten wir innerhalb kürzester Zeit lokalisieren. Wir haben den genauen Standort den Rettungskräften weiterleiten und die ganze Aktion deshalb gut koordinieren können.

Doch selbstverständlicherweise hat nicht nur die Rennzentrale vom System profitieren können, sondern zum Beispiel auch die Newsredaktion der Tortour. Aufgrund der Positionsdaten konnte die Redaktion den Newsfeed und all die sozialen Medien jederzeit auf aktuellem Stand halten. Ebenfalls profitiert hat der Speaker in der IWC-Arena, wo die Fahrer ankamen. Über Tractalis erfuhr er jeweils, wann die nächsten Fahrer im Ziel ankamen und konnte ablesen, wieviel Zeit er noch für die Interviews mit den aktuellen Fahrern hatte.

Die Organisatoren der Tortour verlassen sich mittlerweile auf das Livetrackingsystem von Tractalis. Es ist stark mit der ganzen Struktur verbunden.

Am meisten profitiert haben jedoch wie jedes Jahr die Zuschauer. Nach langer Zeit des Pröbelns und Finetunings erhalten wir seit einigen Jahren fast ausschliesslich positive Reaktionen. Sei es, damit die Fans wissen, wann ihr Idol vorbei fährt oder sei es, um den aktuellen Rennverlauf mitzuverfolgen, für die Tortourfans ist Tractalis auch nicht mehr wegzudenken.

The Tortour is a 1000 kilometre long Ultracycling race around Switzerland. Roughly 13’000 meter altitude are completed by the athletes in teams of 1, 2, 4 or 6. And all of this in under 40 hours.

As the birthplace of the idea Tractalis, the Tortour has always been must-attend, but one we do with pleasure. In 2015, Tractalis was used at the Tortour for the 5^th time already. As a consequence, Tractalis is embedded deeply within the structures. The race headquarters of the Tortour has counted on the system for years and probably wouldn’t function without it. Thanks to Tractalis, the race headquarters, which is always filled with two or three people, has a permanent overview over the event.

The timestations at the Tortour orientate their opening hours towards the race schedule. In 2015 tough, the leading cyclers were several hours ahead of the schedule. With Tractalis, the headquarters have an instrument to identify such issues in an early stage. In the year 2015, it was possible to warn and prepare five timestations early on.

The live tracking system prove itself just as practical for the coordination in cases of emergency. The two accidents that happened unfortunately, could be located very quickly. We were able to forward the positions to the rescue forces and therefore coordinate the process smoothly.

It’s obvious that not only the headquarters benefit from the system, but for instance also the news editors of the Tortour. With the position data, the editors can keep the news feed and the social medias up to date. Another profiteer is the speaker in the arena, Through Tractalis he saw when the next cyclist arrived at the finish and how long he had left with the current interview. The organisers count on the Tractalis live tracking system by now. It’s connected strongly with the whole structure of the event.

But most of all profited, have just as every year the spectators. After a long time of trying out and fine tuning, since a few years, we receive almost exclusively positive reactions. Be it that the fans know when their hero drives by or be it to follow the current race course, the fans of the Tortour couldn’t go without Tractalis anymore.
